Western Courier Wins Three State Awards

MACOMB, IL – The Western Courier student newspaper at Western Illinois University brought home three awards from this weekend's Illinois College Press Association competition in Chicago.

Copy Editor Brie Coder, a senior journalism major, of Macomb, won third place for non-sports column.

Production Manager Jimmy Pierson, a senior marketing major, of Grayslake, IL, won honorable mention for sports page design.

The Courier staff won honorable mention for headline writing.

"I am proud of the students and their performance in the ICPA contest this year," said Director of Student Publications Will Buss. "Their work provides quality and award-winning journalism in the Western Courier, which continues to provide student journalists with invaluable experience."
